What
Color are Firefly Magic™ Lights?
|
|
|
Visible Light Waves
Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic
waves we can see. We see these waves as the
colors of the rainbow. Each color has a different
wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength
and violet has the shortest wavelength. When
all the waves are seen together, they make
white light.
|
|
 |
When
white light shines
through a prism
or through water
vapor like this
rainbow, the white
light is broken
apart into the
colors of the visible
light spectrum.
|
How do we "see" using
Visible Light?
Cones in our
eyes are receivers for these tiny visible
light waves. The Sun is a natural source
for visible light waves and our eyes
see the reflection of this sunlight
off the objects around us.
The color of an object that we see
is the color of light reflected.
All other colors are absorbed.
Light bulbs are another source of
visible light waves.

What
Firefly Magic™ Firefly Colors are Available?
The standard Firefly Magic™ Lights
are set at a dominant wavelength of 570 Nanometers,
which to most people appears as a lime-green
color, or by looking at the spectrum chart above,
is located between green and yellow. This is
the color of many fireflies
in the United States, including the Photinus Macdermotti.
However, there are over 200 species of firefly in
the US, and more
than
2000
species in the world. Different species of fireflies
frequently have slightly different color and timing
of their 'flashes' in order to only attract their
own species for mating.
Firefly Magic™ Lights have Optional
Colors that
include: 585 nanometers, which appears yellow
to most people,
605 nanometers, which appears yellow-orange
to most people, and 615 nanometers, which
appears amber to most people. We can also create Custom
Colors that match any light frequency
from 450 to 750 Nanometers.
